Post match press conference with England manager Thomas Tuchel after England’s 2-0 win against Serbia at Wembley in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Bukayo Saka’s first half volley and a late curling strike from substitute Eberechi Eze kept England perfect with seven wins from seven, twenty goals scored and none conceded in Group K.

Saka opened the scoring just before the half hour with a cushioned volley at the back post after debutant Nico O’Reilly’s effort looped up in the box, before Eze sealed the result in the final minutes after linking up with Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, who again impressed off the bench.

Tuchel praised England’s control in a difficult, physical game, highlighted the impact and “bomb squad” mentality of his substitutes, and picked out O’Reilly’s calm debut and Foden’s display as a central forward as key positives.

He also spoke about England’s seven clean sheets in a row, stressing the work rate, discipline and defending identity of the team, hailed Harry Kane as being “in the shape of his life” with a finishing ratio “out of this world”, and warned that big nations cannot take qualification for granted even when the group is already won.

Tuchel finished by talking about maintaining momentum before the finals, the culture and standards being built camp by camp, and how his squad is desperate to shape its own identity.
