You know, it's still hard to comprehend for me.. I remember when I read these verses for the first time (after I'd given my life to Papa) and a deep pain and sadness pierced my soul.
They pulled out His beard, He was so disfigured, that you could hardly see He was human anymore..how badly must He have been beaten before He became unrecognisable?
I sometimes wonder if I'd be able to take a bullet for the ones I love.. I can't be sure, but I think I would.
But would I take a bullet for someone who spat in my face? Who mocked and ridiculed me? Who would have nothing to do with me? Beaten me, humiliated me..no way!
You know what still hurts me the most when I read these verses?
It's not the crucifixion, tho gruesome obviously, it's not the unspeakable suffering.. it's the fact that all those years that I lived without Him, didn't need Him, didn't want Him, He still gave Himself, for me.
He didn't NEED me, but He WANTED me.
I didn't want Him, but He knew I needed Him. So He gave Himself, all of Himself, regardless.
That's REAL love, unconditional love.
How can you say no to Someone like that?
He accepted me, before I accepted Him. He loved me before I loved Him. He sang about me before I sang about Him. He is truly the God of Love. And I am His beloved.
And so are you.
Thank You Jesus, from the bottom of my heart ❤️

ISAIAH 52/53 – MAN OF SORROWS
Isaiah 52
14. Many were amazed when they saw him.
His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human,
and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.
15. And he will startle many nations.
Kings will stand speechless in his presence.
Isaiah 53
2. My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.
3. He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.
4. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
5. He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
