IKEA Kallax Shelf Reinforcement for HEAVY Vinyl and HI-FI Equipment

I have been using this IKEA shelf for my records for a few years. I needed to reinforce it in order to move my vintage AV equipment on top of it. plus it's always been a little wobbly. IKEA didn't intend this bookshelf for 800 lbs of weight. Since I was moving and had to remove EVERYTHING, I decided this was my golden opportunity to build it the way I should have on day 1.

I reassemble the shelf (for the 2nd time), reinforcing with wood glue and clamping the unit tight to keep it perfectly square. Then I add two cross braces out of 1x3x8 which makes the shelf rock solid. I also add shelf stops to keep the records flush with the front. Everything is painted to match the original shelf. I also took the liberty of reorganizing and cleaning my basement recreation room and built myself a great sound room.
