“Today, Kiyan would be a top footballer had he not been killed by a young person carrying a knife.”

Released in 2021, titled “Long Live The Prince’, this powerful ad is a tribute to Kiyan Prince, a football prodigy who was stabbed to death outside his school at the age of 15.

On the 15th anniversary of his passing, cutting-edge technology and AI were used to bring Kiyan back to life virtually, making him appear as a character in FIFA21 and ultimately to help raise awareness of knife crime among the youth.

“Creating Kiyan as the 30-year-old man he would have been today was a sensitive and delicate process, and we took our responsibility seriously,” said Karl Woolley, global real-time director at Framestore. For Woolley, it was one of the most challenging projects of his career.

Using high-energy visuals and archival photos, the ad stitches together an emotional narrative with purpose. Its impact was profound, resonating widely with the public and generating three years’ worth of donations for the Kiyan Prince Foundation, an organisation founded by Kiyan’s father to support young people and combat knife crime.
