Here’s the truth 👇🏼

If sleep training didn’t work or it STOPPED working, there’s a reason for that.

It’s a myth that sleep training is a magic bullet. In reality it’s simply not that effective and the results don’t last. The parents may be getting better sleep, but the baby is not.

📌Sleep training isn’t a one-and-done. Research and parent reports suggest many families end up re-sleep-training ~2–5 times in the first year due to regressions, illness, travel, or development.

📌The actual sleep gains (for baby) are very small. Studies on controlled crying show average increases in longest sleep stretch of only ~15–20 minutes, with little to no change in total night sleep. The parents are getting more sleep but the baby is not.

📌Babies still wake at night even after training. Research finds sleep-trained babies often continue waking 1–2 times per night post sleep training, which is biologically normal. They just aren’t waking up their parents every time.

📌Effects don’t last. By toddlerhood and early childhood, studies show no differences in sleep, behavior, or attachment between sleep-trained and non-sleep-trained kids.
