Welcome to my channel. Today we have a 2015 Nissan Juke 1.2L with several faulty codes
1) P0300 - Random Misfire
2) P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire
3) P0011 -

Customer brought the vehicle towed to me as the vehicle was broken down on the motorway. Customer said the vehicle was shaking & there was a misfire?


We first started the car and no warning lights were showing up. But the vehicle was shaking and smoke was leaving from the exhaust and there was a misfire. Even with these things there was no warning lights to be seen which was a bit strange. So we connected the vehicle to my computer and ran a full scan. After i scanned, there was 2 undocumented faulty codes. Both didn't have any names on them, but i knew what names they were. P0300 which is random misfire & P0304 which is cylinder 4 misfire. So I opened the hood and started to check it old school way. While listening to the engine I recognized that the timing chain is noisy & needed to be replaced.

We started by removing cylinder number 1 and the engine started to get violent. The same was done for cylinder 2, 3 & 4. Each time i took the electric connector off from the coil pack. The engine would violently shake. That means that the spark plugs and ignition coil are doing the job.

I also started to remove the spark plugs one by one and I found that one spark plug was covered with oil. So i cleaned the spark plugs & swapped them & put the spark plugs back in. Later i ran a scan on my computer & cleared the codes. Even after I had cleaned the spark plugs, swapped them & cleared the codes, the vehicle was still shaking . So i rescanned the vehicle again and I wasn't able to any codes but after 15 attempts I was able to get one. But still that was an undocumented code P0011.

Later i connected the vehicle to another computer of mine. After i scanned the vehicle i found one code on engine management. Later we looked on ECM (engine control module). There we had one error code P0304-66 CYL 4 MISFIRE (P0304). Which means cylinder 4 has a misfire.

Next we did a cylinder compressor test.

Cylinder 1: 175psi (which is good)
Cylinder 2: 175psi (Same)
Cylinder 3: was little lower 170psi
Cylinder 4: 40psi (This was what was causing the problems)

As of now we have decided that the cause could be either pistons or the valve damaged. However, we need to open the engine to have a visual examination. So now we are waiting for the customer to give us a thumbs up whether we do the job or not.
