Newer (but not new) cars like my 2014 BMW i3 have modern infotainment systems, but typically lack the CarPlay integration that people are used to. In many places, having this integration isn't a want — it's a need! I currently live in a state where handheld phone usage is illegal, so it's extremely important to have a good in-car system.
