The Annapurna Temple at Barrackpore is a lookalike of the famous Dakshineswar temple built by Rani Rasmoni. This famous Annapurna mandir was commissioned by Rani Rasmoni's youngest daughter Jagadamba. .
The main entrance to the temple is from the eastern side. Once you enter through the gate the nabaratna temple will fall on your right and natmandir towards the left. The entire temple complex along with six aatchala Shiva temples covers around 55 bighas of land and has a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The inauguration took place on 30th Chaitra, 1281.Sri Sri Ramkrishna was present on the day of inauguration of Annapurna Temple. The idol of Goddess Annapurna is made of Astodhatu while that of Lord Mahadev is made of silver.
On the back side of the temple and opposite to the Ganges ghat there are a total of six aatchala Shiv mandir three on each side of the iron gate that leads to the ghat. The six Shiva temples are dedicated to Kalyaneswar , Kambeswar , Kinnoreswar , Kedereswar , Kailesheswar and Kapileswr.
Mangal arati began daily at around 5:15 a.m. and Sandhya arati which is normally over by 7:00 p.m.
