संसद में हिंदी बोलने का एक विडियो पूरी दुनिया में छा गया है। क्योंकि संसद भारत की नहीं थी। गयाना की संसद। जी। दक्षिण अमेरिका का देश गयाना। वहां पर बहस हो रही थी। बजट पर बहस थी बता रहे हैं। तो वहां के एक मंत्री हैं विकाश रामकिसून। नाम से ही आप समझ गए होंगे कि भारतीय मूल के हैं। गयाना में भारतीय मूल के लोगों की आबादी अच्छी ख़ासी है। लगभग 40% है। तो ज़ाहिर सी बात है वहां की राजनीति में भारतीय मूल के लोगों का अच्छा ख़ासा दबदबा है। असल में वहां दो ही बड़े समुदाय हैं। भारतीय मूल के लोग और अफ़्रीकी मूल के लोग। इन दोनों समुदायों में ही राजनीति चलती है वहां। तो विकाश रामकिसून वहां के कृषि मंत्री हैं। उनको किसी बात पर एक विपक्षी सांसद ने कह दिया कि ये कह दिया कि ये अपने आप को भारतीय मूल के लोगों का प्रतिनिधी मानते हैं लेकिन इनको हिंदी तक नहीं आती। जिन्होंने उनपर ये तंज़ कसा उन सांसद का नाम है विष्णु पांडे। यानी वो भी भारतीय मूल के हैं। उन्होंने तंज़ कसा तो विकाश रामकिसून आ गए पूरी फ़ॉर्म में उनको जवाब देने के लिए। उनको सुनते ही संसद में सन्नाटा छा गया। विपक्षी चुप हो गए। यानी हिंदी ना जानने का आरोप लगा तो कृशि मंत्री पर तो वहीं बोल कर दिखा दी। वैसे गयाना की आधिकारिक भाषा अंग्रेज़ी है, संसद में वहां अंग्रेज़ी में ही काम होता है। क्योंकि पहले वहां अंग्रेज़ों का ही राज था, जैसे दुनिया के कई देशों में हुआ करता था। लेकिन विकाश रामकिसून को सुनकर दुनिया को भी पता चल गया कि भारतीय मूल के लोग वहां अब भी घरों में हिंदी ही बोलते होंगे। भारत में भी लोगों को पता चला क्योंकि ज़्यादातर पब्लिक तो ये भी नहीं जानती कि वहां भारतीय मूल के लोग रहते हैं। और फ़ैक्ट तो ये है कि हिंदी तो वो लोग जानते ही हैं, भोजपुरी भी ख़ूब बोलते हैं। और ये लोग कब गए हैं वहां? अभी हाल में नहीं गए हैं। 150-200 साल होने को आ रहे हैं भारतीय मूल के लोगों को वहां पहुंचे।

A video of Hindi being spoken in Parliament has gone viral worldwide. Because it wasn't India's parliament. It was the parliament of Guyana. Yes, Guyana, a South American country. Vikas Ramkissoon is the Agriculture Minister there. An opposition MP remarked to him, saying that he considers himself a representative of people of Indian origin, but he doesn't even know Hindi. The MP who made this remark is Vishnu Pandey. Meaning, he's also of Indian origin. When he taunted him, Vikas Ramkissoon appeared in full force to respond. Upon hearing him, Parliament fell silent. The opposition fell silent. The Agriculture Minister was accused of not knowing Hindi, and he proved it right there. While Guyana's official language is English, Parliament conducts business in English. Previously, the British ruled there, as did many other countries around the world. But after listening to Vikas Ramkissoon, the world learned that people of Indian origin there probably still speak Hindi at home. Even in India, people learned because most of the public didn't even know that people of Indian origin lived there. The fact is that they know Hindi and speak Bhojpuri fluently. And when did these people go there? They haven't recently. It's been 150-200 years since people of Indian origin reached there.
