10,000 LBS! Massive Vintage OTIS Hydraulic Elevator - Sears, Sunvalley Shopping Center - Concord, CA

[Recorded 1-12-22] Here's a really cool elevator, and this is actually the biggest elevator I've seen in a Sears store! This was formerly an OTIS with black buttons but it was slapped on by Schindler with Adams. Ah, the good ol Sears mod. This is basically a freight elevator servicing the 2nd floor. I'm guessing it's all stockroom space up there since the main store is only LL and 1. That would explain why this elevator is so big. There is also another actual freight in this store that doesn't go up to the 2nd floor. This thing has a capacity of 10K lbs, which is apparently enough room to fit 66 people according to the certificate. That's wild. Anyway, it's pretty rare to see an open Sears these days and like all of them, I don't see this one being around much longer.
