Book Event: The Dragon Roars Back

Описание к видео Book Event: The Dragon Roars Back

Since its founding, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has experienced a turbulent trajectory with respect to its position in the global order and relations with its neighbors. The visions of individual Chinese leaders have notably influenced the nation’s ambitions, ideological underpinnings, and foreign policy outlook. As Xi Jinping begins his third term and further consolidates power, assessing the role of top leadership in shaping China’s foreign policy agenda is as crucial as ever. What forces are driving China's emergence as a major global power? What role has the ideology of its leaders played in shaping China’s rise?

On December 5th at 3:30-4:30pm ET, please join the Freeman Chair in China Studies for a discussion on the new book, The Dragon Roars Back: Transformational Leaders and Dynamics of Chinese Foreign Policy, featuring author Suisheng Zhao, Professor and Director of the Center for China-U.S. Cooperation at the University of Denver. The book provides a historically in-depth and comprehensive assessment of China’s foreign policy shifts since 1949, and details the role of influential leadership in shaping the trajectory and ambitions of China’s political system. This event will be moderated by Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS.
