As one of China's major food producing regions, Heilongjiang Province is also leading the country in drone use applications, with UAV flight hours for agriculture, forestry and plant protection projects accounting for 40 percent of the nation's total.

Unmanned aerial vehicles are used widely here to help farmers manage the vast areas of arable land.

Overall, more than 600,000 UAVs were newly registered across the country in H1 this year, the Civil Aviation Administration says, a 48 percent increase from the end of last year.
With farmers in other provinces following suit, UAV manufacturers are riding a tailwind to expand their businesses.

Some are building productions bases closer to their markets, like this drone manufacturer who recently opened a production base in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that the country's UAV sector was valued at about 71 billion U.S. dollars last year and is expected to surpass 140 billion by 2026.
