Nimai Das Baul stays in Basudebkhali, Baharampur in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. From his guru Shyamsundar Das Baul he has been inherited with a treasured collection of old Baul songs. Also he has accumulated a rich collection of other mystic and Sufi song to his collection from different other sources. One can see him smiling always with all his humbleness while being very much energetic all the time. Like his master he is also a baul practitioner. He has a wonderful style of presentation. Particularly his unique dancing movements have made him popular as “Khyapa” (The mad), a term which is applied with admiration and much of adoration to a baul who defies all boundary with his non-inhibition. And no wonder that Nimai Das Baul is truly a ‘Khyapa’…..Nimai Khyapa…..
