Indian Industrialist and Philanthropist Ratan Tata dies at the Age of 86

Indian industrialist Ratan Tata died at the age of 86. He was the chairman emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons. On October 9: Tata sons chairman N Chandrasekaran confirmed his demise. The philanthropist, known for his love for animals, was undergoing treatment for age-related illnesses. His last rites will be performed in Mumbai and his mortal remains are kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts. PM Modi hails Tata as a “compassionate soul”. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend his last rites. The Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning. The Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has said Tata’s last rites to be performed with full state honour. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi called Tata “a man with a vision”.
Tata had received the third-highest civilian award- Padma Bhushan and the second-highest civilian award- Padma Vibhushan.
