| The Kinzig(Rhine) River |
The Kinzig is a right tributary of the Rhine. It is located entirely inside the State of Baden-Württemberg and its name is supposed to be of Celtic origin.
It runs for 93 km from the Black Forest through the Upper Rhine River Plains. The Kinzig valley and secondary valleys constitute the largest system of valleys in the Black Forest.

| Baden Black Forest Railway |
The Baden Black Forest Railway (German: Badische Schwarzwaldbahn) is a double-track, electrified railway line in Baden-Württemberg, Germany built between 1863 and 1873. It runs from Offenburg to Singen and directly across the Black Forest, providing spectacular scenery.
The route is 150 km long, is 650 metres from lowest to highest points and it passes over 2 viaducts and through 39 tunnels. It is by this day the only true mountain railway in Germany to be built with two tracks, and is the most important railway line in the Black Forest.

| Am Großen Deich (The Great Dike) |
The history of this little dam/dike goes back to 1573. There was a water trap, which the Ortenau pond master was responsible for operating. Almost 250 years later the Karlsruhe engineer Tulla carried out the Kinzig correction. The rectification works here at the Great Dike was finished in 1819. The keeper's house was built for him in 1864.

The Kinzig river previously flowed in many branches to the Rhine and caused a lot of floods.
People protected themselves against flooding with low dams or "Landvesten". Construction of there dams was a compulsory labor; it had to be done at people's own expenses. Thanks to the dam the floods stop[ed.
