Hunter Summer Breeze 52" ceiling fan in a custom polished nickel finish, shown with new old stock Regency clear plexiglass blades. I recently purchased these incredible square tip blades from Brian Hicks in a batch of old Regency stuff, without really having a specific use for them in mind. I'd love to find a chrome Regency fan to put them on someday, but after looking over my remake list recently to evaluate which fans to do next, this fan struck me as a cool pairing for them and I wanted to do it immediately. Essentially, the yellow-tinted lacquer started peeling off of this motor the moment I started cleaning it, so I had to remove it all to avoid the fan looking like total trash. It ended up making a super common fan immensely cooler. The result wasn't perfect, since the fan had been essentially thrown outside in the snow before I got it, but it's pretty good all things considered. There's still a very slight undertone of yellow; I don't know if that's part of Hunter's plating process or if it's like a remnant stain or film. All I did was remove the lacquer with very hot water, no stripping agent or anything. You'll have to ignore the high speed wobble. For the literal single minute that this was going to be shown on high speed here, I wasn't going to spend an hour playing with switching the blades around to find a better balance. Clear blades are tough since a weight on top would be visible; I just had to go with it to avoid ruining the visual on other speeds. For a real install I'd put in the effort, but it was not worth my time here. Spindown takes forever. It's got pretty smooth bearings, but the additional weight of these blades keeps it going for even longer.
