In this new season of Empire of Light, we’re showcasing the work and inspirations of ceramic artists and studios based in and around Porto. In this first episode, we meet Pedro Moreira, a visionary artist traversing the realms of sculpture and multimedia. Pedro sculpts mythical science fiction narratives in clay, exploring the parallels between religion, theology and science fiction/fantasy, creating pieces that incorporate tongues, teeth, and organic forms, often exploring grotesque and surreal elements.
In this episode, Pedro talks about the conceptual framing of his craft, while also explaining how his life’s story and childhood brought him to it.
