Betty demonstrates how to make Sumptuous Salisbury Steak. This entree may be used for a casual or formal meal.

Sumptuous Salisbury Steak

1 ½ pounds ground beef (I used 85% lean.)
10.75-ounce can condensed Golden Mushroom soup
1 tablespoon prepared mustard (yellow mustard)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon grated horseradish
1 egg, slightly beaten
¼ cup fine, dry bread crumbs (I used the Italian variety.)
¼ cup chopped onion
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ cup water
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
fresh parsley leaves, for garnish (optional)

Place ground beef in large bowl. In a small bowl, stir together soup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish. Add ¼ cup of this mixture to the ground beef and set the rest aside for later use. Also, add the egg, crumbs, onion, salt, and pepper to the ground beef mixture and stir until combined. Shape into 6 oval patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Brown on both sides over medium heat in a deep skillet and pour off excess fat. In the small bowl, add water and parsley to the remainder of the soup mixture. Pour over browned steak patties. Cover and cook over low heat about 20 minutes, stirring sauce occasionally. Use a spatula to transfer Salisbury Steak patties from skillet to a serving platter. Pour sauce from skillet over steaks. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
