Iowa storm: Deadly tornado tears through Greenfield, homes reduced to splinters

A powerful tornado tore through the small town of Greenfield, Iowa, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake on Tuesday.

The storm resulted in multiple fatalities and at least a dozen injuries, with homes reduced to splinters and debris scattered throughout the area.

"We can confirm there have been multiple fatalities with this tornado," said Sgt. Alex Dinkla, a spokesperson with the Iowa State Patrol, during a conference.

Due to damage sustained by the local hospital, the injured had to be transferred to facilities in nearby towns. Authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage and the full impact of the disaster.
