Mary Blane/Coon Hunt Walkaround (Daniel Emmett, Frank Converse, Clifton Hicks)

Описание к видео Mary Blane/Coon Hunt Walkaround (Daniel Emmett, Frank Converse, Clifton Hicks)

I learned the first instrumental tune from Clifton Hicks, who learned it from Frank Converse' "Banjo Without a Master" booklet. The song I am singing after is one I learned from "The Early Minstrel Show" album released by New World Records.

Both of these are pre-1880's era tunes.

When my friends meet it's pleasure
but when we part it's pain
I never knew what true love was
till I saw Mary Blane

(CHORUS)
FARE WELL, FARE WELL, FARE WELL poor Mary Blane
do take care of yourself my dear
I'm coming back again

she look just like a blooming bud
that's in the summer season
she broke this poor mans heart in two
and stole away my reason

(CHORUS)

My Mary she was handsome
my Mary she was young
i never saw a pretty gal
have such a flattering tongue

She said to me one evening
you are my loving beaux
the reason I do love you
is you play the ol' banjo

(chorus)

IM NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN
