Vitória é um município brasileiro, capital do estado do Espírito Santo, na Região Sudeste do país. É uma das três capitais do país cujo centro administrativo e a maior parte do município estão localizados em uma ilha, no caso, a Ilha de Vitória (as outras ilhas-capitais são Florianópolis, em Santa Catarina, e São Luís, no Maranhão). Situada a 20º19'09' de latitude sul e 40°20'50' de longitude oeste, Vitória limita-se ao norte com o município da Serra, ao sul com Vila Velha, a leste com o Oceano Atlântico e a oeste com Cariacica.
Com uma população de 363 mil habitantes, segundo estimativas de 2018 do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), a cidade é a quarta mais populosa do estado (atrás dos municípios limítrofes de sua região metropolitana: Vila Velha, Serra e Cariacica) e integra uma metrópole denominada Grande Vitória, com cerca de 2 milhões de habitantes. Vitória é cercada pela Baía de Vitória e é uma ilha de tipo fluviomarinho, mas outras 34 ilhas e uma porção continental também fazem parte do município, perfazendo um total de 93,381 km². Originalmente eram 50 ilhas, muitas das quais foram agregadas por meio de aterro à ilha maior.
A cidade tem o 5.º melhor índice de desenvolvimento humano (IDH) entre todos os municípios brasileiros. Em 2015, foi considerada a 2.ª melhor cidade para se viver no Brasil pela Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU). Em uma pesquisa de 2017, Vitória foi classificada como a terceira melhor capital brasileira para se viver.
A capital capixaba também foi eleita a cidade com o melhor capital humano do Brasil, segundo a revista Exame. Segundo estudo do Instituto de Longevidade Mongeral Aegon feito em 2017, a cidade é a 9ª melhor cidade para se envelhecer no país. Além disso, Vitória tem o melhor índice de bem-estar urbano entre as capitais brasileiras e possui sete entre os 20 melhores bairros de todo país por IDH-M.

Vitória (Portuguese pronunciation: [viˈtɔɾjɐ], Victory), spelled Victória until the 1940s, is the capital of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It is located on a small island within a bay where a number of rivers meet the sea. It was founded in 1551. The city proper 93 square kilometres (36 square miles) has a population of 358,875 (2015) whilst the Greater Vitória metropolitan area has a population of more than 1,857,616 (2013), the 14th largest in Brazil.
Vitória is a riverine island surrounded by Vitória's Bay. In addition to Vitória, the main island, another 34 islands and a mainland portion are part of the municipality, totalling 93.381 square kilometres (36.05 square miles). Originally there were 50 islands, many of which were joined to the largest island by landfill.
In 1998, the United Nations rated Vitória as the fourth best state capital in Brazil to live in, rating cities on health, education, and social improvement projects. Among the Brazilian capitals, Vitória currently maintains the second best human development index (HDI) (after Florianópolis) according to research from Getulio Vargas Foundation. It was considered the fourth best city to live in Brazil by United Nations in 2013 (behind São Caetano do Sul, Águas de São Pedro and Florianópolis) and ranked the highest gross domestic product per capita.
The city has two major ports: the Port of Vitória and the Port of Tubarão. These ports are part of the largest port complex of the country, which are considered the best in quality of Brazil. The city, which lies on the coast, has proximity to the region of mountains of Espírito Santo. Through port authority, the city council also manages the Trindade and Martim Vaz islands, 1,100 kilometres (680 miles) off the coast, which are important meteorological bases because of its strategic position: located in an area of dispersion of air masses.
