Good morning everyone!
Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends — a very happy Independence Day to all of you!

Today, we are here to celebrate the 15th of August — the day when our country, India, got independence from British rule in 1947. It is a proud moment for all of us, and it reminds us of the great sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to free our nation. We should always remember their courage, dedication, and love for the country.

Before 1947, India was ruled by the British for nearly 200 years. During that time, our people were treated unfairly. They were not free to speak, live, or even dream the way they wanted. But brave leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sardar Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many others fought against injustice with great courage.

Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle with the path of non-violence. He inspired millions to join hands and fight peacefully for their rights. Subhas Chandra Bose encouraged the youth with his famous words — “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom.” Because of their dedication and the united efforts of all Indians, we got our freedom on 15th August 1947.

Today, we proudly hoist our tricolor flag, which has deep meaning. The saffron color represents courage and sacrifice. The white stands for peace and truth. The green symbolizes growth and prosperity. The Ashoka Chakra in the center is a symbol of law and progress.

Since independence, India has come a long way. We have grown in every field — from agriculture and industry to science, technology, and education. India is now one of the largest democracies in the world. But with freedom comes responsibility.

As students, we are the future of this country. It is our duty to be honest, responsible, and hardworking. We must respect our parents, teachers, and elders. We should follow rules, keep our surroundings clean, and always help others. Being a true patriot does not always mean fighting at the border — it means being a good human being and doing our best for our country.

Let us remember that the freedom we enjoy today came at a great cost. Many brave people gave up their lives so that we can live in a free country. Let’s never forget their sacrifice and always keep their dreams alive.

On this Independence Day, let us take a pledge to be good citizens. Let us promise to study well, care for others, and work hard to make India a better place for everyone.

In the words of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam: “If you want to shine like the sun, first burn like the sun.” So let us shine brightly and make our country proud.
