Martyn Gregory, author of the acclaimed book about the death of Princess Diana, "Diana: The Last Days" reported for Sky News on the goings-on at the Inquest throughout its six month duration. In his report broadcast on 23 February 2008, he reported on Fayed's evidence to the inquest and the media circus it caused.

Chris Roberts at the beginning refers to those who claimed the inquest had descended into farce on Fayed's appearance. Their claims were based on the sheer number of people Fayed accused of involvement in murder, including Diana's own sister, some of her close friends as well as Tony Blair, the CIA and dozens of others. Gregory then describes the response of the former head of MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove, to Fayed's allegations later that week.

The inquest also heard from the widow of French Papparazzo James Andanson who has been persistently accused of ramming Diana's Mercedes with his unroadworthy Fiat Uno. His widow provided conclusive testimony and documentary evidence that the allegations surrounding him are nonsensical.

Fayed's evidence turned out in retrospect to be a turning point in the inquest. It became increasingly apparent there was nothing sinister behind the Princess's death and the conspiracy theories were a mere fabrication designed to deflect blame. The jury's verdict delivered on 7 April rejected any notion of murder or foul play and declared that the deaths were due to the actions a drunk employee of Mohammed Fayed and the papparrazzi.
