"So What's New" is a single by American singer Peggy Lee from 1966. It reached 20th position in the special US chart of "contemporary songs for adults (of an older age)". The following year it was included in the album-collection "Extra Special!".
Speaking of "adults of an advanced age", every Italian who belongs to this category cannot fail to recognize the song. From 1968 one of the "Caroselli" (almost 3-minute advertising films broadcast on National Television immediately after the evening news, therefore during peak viewing hours) showed a "blonde" Solvi Stübing inviting a clumsy Francesco Mulè to the tune of "So What's New" singing "call me Peroni, your beer I will be". It was one of the most successful series of "Caroselli" which lasted 8 years, leaving in the viewers' memory the catchphrase and the music arranged by the jazz musician Carlo Loffredo. One of the best performances by Armando Testa's advertising agency.

"So What's New" (= Allora, che c'è di nuovo?) è un singolo della cantante statunitense Peggy Lee del 1966. Raggiunse la 20ª posizione nella speciale classifica UDA di "canzoni contemporanee per adulti (di una certa età)". L'anno successivo è stata inserita nell'album-raccolta "Extra Special!".
A proposito di "adulti di una certa età", chi fa parte di questa categoria non può non riconoscere la canzoncina. Dal 1968 uno dei "Caroselli" (filmati pubblicitari di quasi 3 minuti trasmessi dalla RAI RadioTelevisione sul canale nazionale subito dopo il telegiornale serale, quindi nell'ora di maggiore ascolto) mostrava una "bionda" Solvi Stübing che invitava un goffo Francesco Mulè sulle note di "So What's New" cantando "chiamami Peroni, la tua birra io sarò". Fu una delle più fortunate serie di "Caroselli" che durò 8 anni, lasciando nella memoria dei telespettatori la frase-tormentone e la musica arrangiata dal jazzista Carlo Loffredo. Una delle migliori performance dell'Agenzia pubblicitaria di Armando Testa.
