Yamaha C7 Grand Piano Review | Built in 1972

Описание к видео Yamaha C7 Grand Piano Review | Built in 1972

This is a 1972 Yamaha C7 grand piano. So the C stands for conservatory for those of you that know, Yamaha you know that there's a G series, it's kind of like general public it's not what it stands for but you kind of think of that was like a kind of the entry level quality, and they had the conservatory piano series, which was designed more for like the conservatory schools, churches, recording studios, and stuff like that.

These were way more popular, and so many people started going after these C series pianos. A Yamaha grand piano C7 measures seven foot six inches from the front to the back, and this one's in fantastic shape. It's a satin black finish and we've re-rubbed the piano out; we didn't have to do any chip repair or anything, so it turned out really well.

This one did have a player system on it, but it was an old blue board piano disc system that did not sound well, so we took it off. It wasn't something that we could upgrade, and have it actually produce good music so we said take it off as a performance grade piano.

There are two cool things about this piano; one is these key tops are not plastic and they're one piece. Two is this is 1972, so at this time they had not moved over fully to the v pro plate design, which is a much faster way to make these big cast-iron plates, so this is a wet sand casted plate, just like Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, and other top pianos as well. For all these amazing handmade pianos this is a wet sand casted plate. If you don't know what that is; in short what it means is Yamaha came out this way to make plates a long time ago, in the 70s called V-pro, and it would only take him about three and a half minutes to actually make and cure a plate. But the old way the way that we've been doing it for centuries with all our handmade pianos has been wet sand casting, and that takes about six months to fully cure. This has that and what that does is makes piano a lot more warm and rich; you get a lot more bell sounds out of the piano instead of a kind of more brassy tin sound.

This one does have the Yamaha bright punchy sound that many people go after with Yamaha, so I always see them on stages, like Lady Gaga, Saturday Live, you always see Yamaha because they cut above drum symbols and electric guitar.

This Yamaha piano is doing that because of the hammers, not necessarily because of the plate.
