Elvis Presley - After Loving You - From First Take to The Master

Описание к видео Elvis Presley - After Loving You - From First Take to The Master

Elvis’ timeless and legendary recording session at American Sound in Memphis during January and February 1969, was essentially split into two distinctive parts. The first in January had Elvis recording with constant problems in regards to his vocals, believed to be the side effect of a cold. This was such a problem that Elvis had re-record his vocals to virtually every song recorded during this first part of the session.
The second part, in February, saw Elvis free from the problems that beset his voice the previous month and as such vocal overdubs were unnecessary. One of the songs that highlights the excellent form of Elvis’ voice at that point is After Loving You. The opening bars are sublime as Elvis tears into the song and hooks the listener almost immediately. This has the effect of making the song made up of just one verse and a repeated chorus, much more than the sum of it’s parts.
This was the second of three songs recorded on 18 February 1969, the first being Power of My Love and concluded with the quite sublime Do You Know Who I Am. The master was achieved by take four, but was faded by eight seconds before release on the legendary From Elvis In Memphis album.
The song was one of those unfortunate enough to be chosen by Felton Jarvis to receive new musical backing during the 1980 Young ‘Un studio session. This resulted in the Guitar Man album in 1981, which included After Loving You and this version is included at the end of the video.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
