Becoming “body smart” is not just a great idea, but it is almost becoming mandatory in this day of "chronic pain.”

Troubling Numbers

Pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Chronic pain affects 33-50 percent of ALL populations globally. High-impact chronic pain is seen in 4.8 percent of U.S. adults. Chronic pain accounts for 22-50 percent of trips to see your family doctor. (More information can be obtained from a recent British Medical Journal Study (https://t.co/IRVpJZNS0L.)
Obviously, there are myriad factors contributing to these troubling numbers, but WHAT IF one of the secrets to chronic pain elimination and/or prevention is simply being a better mover. Yes, moving more skillfully is what all great athletes do, but you don’t have to be one to benefit from being "body smarter.”

Body smart

In other words, our bodies are designed to move well and not to just break down we when turn 40. There are many people in the world who do much more manual labor than westerners and who don't break down as they age. People in more agrarian societies can, and often do, out-move us. They are body smart. We westerners may not like it, but many of us have low "movement IQs." It often comes down to the old adage: "if you don’t use it, you lose it." What you lose is your AWARENESS of how to move. But it's never too late to tap into that awareness.
So get smarter and enjoy the benefits of the secret of slowing down and centering.
