‘(Christmas) Maybe Next Year’ would not have been possible without the wonderful community we have here on the Isle of Man. The whole song was recorded, rehearsed, filmed, mixed and mastered at Ballagroove Recording Studio under the expert guidance of Gyp Buggane. Thank you to our wonderful choir of youngsters, who were formed from a shout-out on FB! Fitting in all of them, plus their parents, broke Ballagroove’s record for the most people in the studio at one time! After I wrote the song, Matt Brewster orchestrated the track, spending all-nighters on violin parts and seeing how many license-free Christmas carols he can fit in the brass section (hint - there’s 5, can you name them all?) I love that the song begins with our new drummer, Matt Creer, a fitting welcome to the band! This track is actually the first thing we’ve recorded with our current line-up, so despite being in the band for over a year, it’s funny to think it’s the first chance for you to hear the genius of James Kinley’s trombone playing and Felipe Kowalczuk’s percussion. John Kaighin remains the busiest man on the Isle of Man, so here is yet another video that he doesn’t feature in (😢) but you can hear his accordion and keys playing filling the gaps in a way that only he can do 💖 I think David Kinley finally got over his fear of recording after reporting to me that he actually had fun this time and it took less than 4 hours 😜 Django Kinley said that if the music video gets 1 million views on youtube then he’ll allow Felipe to release the audio from his brass takes. Thank you Felipe - Open Water Films - for creating both of our music videos and working to really short deadlines and a very demanding client 😉 The song would never have been possible without the support of the Isle of Man Arts Council, we’re so fortunate to live here in on the Isle of Man for so many reasons and that definitely includes the Arts Council.

This song is for all of you and your grandparents, your parents, your children, your sisters, your brothers, your friends, your partners, your lovers, your colleagues, your in-laws, your neighbours and every single person missing from your Christmas this year. It comes right from the bottom of my heart when I say, maybe next year. Biskee love xxx
