Nearly half of AI researchers think there's at least a 1 in 10 chance their work ends in human extinction.

But the real danger might not be a sudden super intelligent takeover.

The Accumulative AI X Risk Hypothesis, coined by Carnegie Mellon professor Atoosa Kasirzadeh, argues that smaller disruptions will converge and compound until a triggering event causes irreversible collapse. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman covers similar themes in his book The Coming Wave.

The MISTER framework of manipulation, insecurity, surveillance, trust erosion, economic destabilisation and rights infringement are already visible today.

This video explores how these forces could interact, through a grounded scenario running from 2029 to 2034, and asks whether AI containment is still possible.
