Transportation as a related service.

Did you know that transportation can be considered a related service in an IEP?

If your child's disability prevents them from getting to and from school in the same manner as non-disabled peers, they may be eligible for specialized transportation.

This could mean a spot on a smaller bus with a trained aide, a curb-to-curb service, or specific safety protocols for the ride.

If travel to and from school presents a unique challenge for your child, bring it up with the IEP team and ask for a transportation evaluation.
