This video demonstrates Rage gameplay in 16K video resolution (15360 x 8640 pixels) as world record for the first time while rendering Rage PC game in 16K video resolution that is available as fact. Intel core i9 9900K processor and Nvidia Titan RTX video card are the first PC hardware that made this possible that were available for the sale in the end of 2018. Nvidia Titan RTX equipped with 24 GB of VRAM is capable to run Rage PC game under 16K playable experience in real-time that is just above and beyond 16K benchable experience. Titan RTX is the world first video card that was equipped with 24 GB of VRAM and as single GPU that capable to render 16K video resolution without any problems.
RAGE PC game is using ID Tech 4 game engine and the initial demonstration of the engine featured 20 GB of texture data (using a more advanced MegaTexture approach called Virtual Texturing, which supports textures with resolutions up to 128,000 × 128,000 pixels), and a completely dynamic and changeable world. This technique allows the engine to automatically stream textures into memory as needed, meaning that developers need not concern themselves with memory restraints or texture limits. This has the advantage of simplifying the creation of content, by eliminating the need to adapt content for different platforms. The engine automatically optimizes resources for cross-platform development, making it possible to render the same models on different platforms, while creating them for only one platform, further simplifying cross-platform development. However I don`t think that this way of MegaTexture is suitable for First Person Shooter games due that close up objects looks ugly even in 16K video resolution - sure it is better than 4K UHD but still not at the level. I used my Rage patch that patching the executable file and brining all possible fixes and fast textures load at the maximum visual in 16K video resolution while original RAGE game will be struggling and you will be seeing how ugly textures replaced with much detailed textures - my patch is almost fixed it for the entire game. The patch was not developed by me from scratch but improvement of many game modders that stitch into one package and some unknown German developer that hacked executable file and recompiled the source code into a new executable that will be golden with my scripted improvements.
