Tragedy struck Kalaburagi in Karnataka as two men died of suffocation while cleaning a septic tank at a residence near Babalada Road in the Hirapur area. The deceased have been identified as Shivakumar Nandurkar, a local resident, and his friend Ratan Hothkar from Indiranagar. According to reports, Shivakumar entered the septic tank at his home on Wednesday morning for routine cleaning, a task the duo reportedly performed regularly. When he became trapped and unable to exit, Ratan entered the tank to rescue him but also succumbed to the toxic fumes. Both men died due to suffocation inside the tank. Local police have registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are currently conducting further investigations into the incident. The event highlights the persistent dangers associated with manual cleaning of septic tanks without safety equipment.
