The Department of Computing and Information Systems (DCIS) at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was established in 2011 while the BScHons Degree Programme in Computing and Information Systems was initiated back in 2008.  Embarking on software engineering education, the DCIS marked another milestone introducing BSc Hons Degree Programme in Software Engineering for the academic year 2019/20. Today, the Department continues its decade-long journey with generations of students continually improving every step forward, with its team of highly qualified and competent academic staff who are passionate about disseminating knowledge, promoting learning, research and training, with the holistic goal of building educated and cultured individuals. The internal academic staff comprises two professors, four senior lecturers, and twelve lecturers. Meanwhile, eminent senior academics and industrialists are contributing as visiting professionals
