PAW Diesel Model Engine Running + Fuel Mixing

Описание к видео PAW Diesel Model Engine Running + Fuel Mixing

Engine running starts at about 17 minutes.

This is a little video of me running my PAW 40 TBR R/C diesel. I love running model engines and occasionally someone will ask me if I've ever run a diesel. I have run quite a few diesels but it has been a long time so I got one out today just to see it go.

When discussing model diesel engines, the subject of fuel always comes up. Because of this I included a bit on mixing fuel. There are several reasons I don't personally run diesels more and the volatility and shelf life of the fuel is one of them. Ether and ignition improver are not easy to find and the last gallon of kerosene I purchased was around $10 USD. That makes blending diesel fuel expensive.

The advantages of diesels include super idle, no glow plug or battery, great pulling power, and better fuel economy. Plus there is the fact that you'll be the only one at the field with one. That alone nearly offsets most of the drawbacks!

For the time being I will not re-installing the engine in a plane. It's cool - but, not cool enough to look past the issues.

I hope you enjoy. Please leave comments. I've run diesel a fair bit but I'm always willing to learn.

Cheers,

Bill
