Lost and Found: The story of Baby Eve

Over the past year, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) worked closely with the Children’s Cottage Society to bring Hope’s Cradle, a safe surrender site, to Calgary.

🤍 Hope’s Cradle gives vulnerable parents who are struggling the option to safely surrender their child and give them a true chance at a happy and healthy life. The tragic story of Baby Eve, who was given her namesake by the first responders who sadly found her deceased in a dumpster, abandoned on Christmas Eve 2017, is the very reason why the CPS is a participating partner in the establishment of Hope’s Cradle.

📍 Hope’s Cradle, located at 1804 Home Road N.W., is a collaborative effort involving the CPS and Gems for Gems, a Calgary-based charity that offers supports & services to women affected by domestic abuse.

Children who are surrendered at Hope’s Cradle will be given access to medical and social supports to help them thrive in a safe environment. Parents who surrender their child will also be offered mental health supports via printed information that is available when they place their child in the actual cradle.

Police will be called when a child is surrendered at Hope’s Cradle to help determine if a criminal investigation is warranted.

ℹ The CPS encourages struggling parents & caregivers to access available supports & resources through Hope’s Cradle, Gems for Gems or to contact police if you or someone you know is in immediate danger.
