Camping at One Thousand Meters | Camping with Dogs

The dogs are just poking their nose out of the tents into a beautiful sunrise over Mount Qixiang (#七星山)’s main peaks. Daji, Dali, and Wanwan lead the way as 邵庭 (Hsiao Ting) and Miki explore the idyllic panoramic views of the Dream House campsite at the Mkmatuy village (#馬胎部落) in Jianshi Township (#尖石鄉). The ‘lifeblood’ of southeastern Hsinchu is also the ancestral home of three different Indigenous communities known for a variety of landscapes, natural resources, and fresh produce by local farmers.

This first outing is all about embracing nature’s bounty at an altitude of 1,000 meters. A big pot of spaghetti squash soup is slowly bubbling beside a glowing campfire. Our furry friends have settled into their own plates of tender chicken while the girls grab fuzzy blankets for everyone. The drop in temperature creates a unique sense of togetherness and belonging. Time to savor the warmth in the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
