After a week of playing and adjusting the engine it is quite happy running at about 45 RPM on governor control. Firing once every 30 seconds using 0.02 cu-ft gas each time. The "groaning" you hear is actually the stainless steel check ball inside the valve body ( just to the left of the slide valve)
