Nicholas Ng's beautiful arrangement of the Chinese Lullaby 'Yuè ér míng', performed at the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou by The Australian Voices under Gordon Hamilton.

DIRECTOR: Elena Schak
PRODUCER: Scott Griffin

Moon is bright, wind is quiet.
Tree leaves over the window hang.
Little crickets say "Zheng Zheng,"
Sounding just like the Qin
Moon is bright, wind is quiet.
Cradle softly moving.
Little one, oh close your eyes!
Sleep, dreaming.
Sweet dreams!

* A traditional Chinese plucked zither of 7 strings often known as 'the scholar's instrument'.

From the arranger, Nicholas Ng:

"I originally arranged 'Yuè ér míng' for soprano, erhu, strings, and bells for a performance with Camerata of St John's in their 'Mystical Cathedral' program. I based the arrangement on Shanghai diva Jasmine Chen's rendition of the tune. I then arranged Yuè ér míng yet again for Gordon Hamilton and The Australian Voices for their 2012 China tour."
