Use an artboard that is 6 inches by 6 inches
Make multiple artboards so you can iterate! Once you cut your design, you can’t change it!
Make the base of your nightlight 2.82 inches wide and .625 inches tall
Use any shape for the top part - be creative, think about unity

Cut lines - use red stroke, no fill
Score lines - use green stroke, no fill
Engraving - closed path, no stroke, black fill

Text must be converted to outlines (cmd + shift + O)
To engrave lines/open paths use outline stroke - Object - Path - Outline Stroke
To engrave/score a path with an effect applied, make sure you expand the path - Object - Expand
Avoid overlapping engravings - unite any overlapping shapes using pathfinder
Overlapping score lines are fine (like if you wanted to score an x)

When finished, horizontal reflect your entire design and export as an SVG
