Synchronising Laptops with RTPMidi

Описание к видео Synchronising Laptops with RTPMidi

A short demonstration of using MIDI synch with Windows laptops running RTPMidi, connected with an Ethernet cable. Really shoddy mixing there, but then again I'm bending over a camera and excuses excuses. I followed these instructions:

Chap on the right is a TC 4200 running Windows XP Tablet Edition; it's a 2.1ghz Pentium M. Chap on the left is a TC 4400 running Windows 7. It's a 2ghz Core II Duo.

I'm using Ableton as the master, Audiomulch as the slave, with the audio output of the TC 4400 fed into an Asus Xonar U3 plugged into the TC 4200 (the TC 4X00 range had a pretty unimpressive audio system - mono speaker, no line in).

As far as I can tell RTPMidi is rock solid - I can shift the tempo in Ableton like nobody's business and it never desyncs. This is part of about an hour of practising with a stripped-down version of "No Living Thing".

Of course I could just use one really fast laptop with a really big screen (or forego touch and use a fast laptop with an external monitor, although I'm not sure if RTPMidi will sync two applications running on the same machine). That would be horrendously expensive.
