Retiring, after a long career, be it law enforcement (or any other profession), can bring about a lot of stress that can often lead to mental health wellness issues. But it is also that long road leading up to the point of retirement, all the many years of traumatic experiences, not fully processed, that can cause great damage long before the final bell tolls.
