Mendelssohn - Songs without Words op 30 no 6 (Venetianisches Gondellied)

Описание к видео Mendelssohn - Songs without Words op 30 no 6 (Venetianisches Gondellied)

Mendelssohn was a pioneer in composing Songs Without Words (Lieder ohne Worte) genre that later would be embraced by many other contemporary composers such as Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, and later on Rachmaninoff... I met Mendelssohn through his Songs without Words albums and decided to play some of them. The last piece of his second album was also named Venetian Gondolier. This piece quickly became my favorite as I imagined I was on a gondola ride on the canals in Venice when I was playing 2 of them and with a perfect blue sky in the middle. My favorite interpreter of the piece is Daniel Barenboim as he plays this piece beautifully and elegantly.

Big thanks to my dear professor Assoc. Prof. Jerfi Aji for tutoring me on this piece... Thanks to Selçuk Ener, Robert McDonald, and Zehra Güzel for listening to my playings many times and for their insights in interpreting some parts. Many thanks to Emre Tenker for recording and sound engineering. Also, thanks to Prof. Dr. Can Karadoğan for letting me use Miam's studio and this beautiful Steinway piano.
