One of the most notable shifts has been the GIP’s increased focus on cyber intelligence. Saudi Arabia now uses advanced surveillance technologies, including spyware like Pegasus, to track dissidents, journalists, and even foreign officials. These cyber capabilities have turned Saudi intelligence into a formidable force, but they have also sparked criticism from human rights organizations and Western governments.

Saudi intelligence operates within a complex web of alliances and rivalries. While the GIP has historically worked closely with the CIA and MI6, its relationships with Western agencies have been strained in recent years. However, Saudi Arabia has been strengthening ties with China and Russia, particularly in areas like cyber surveillance and military intelligence. Despite its growing capabilities, the GIP faces serious challenges. Its involvement in Yemen has not yielded the desired results, and its struggle against Iranian intelligence continues to expose weaknesses in its operations. Additionally, its aggressive cyber tactics and human rights violations have damaged Saudi Arabia’s global image.
