This was one of two high speed quads that Copper Mountain operated out of the Center Village base area from the late 1980s through 2018. The other was American Flyer, so don't get confused. They have different style lift terminals.

While the American Flyer services beginner terrain and access to Rendezvous, Sierra and the Timberline Express, the American Eagle accessed Excelerator, Solitude Station, and an intermediate run pod.

The American Eagle was only the third Poma high speed quad with Competition egg-chairs I've videotaped - the others being the Silver Queen Express lift and the Beaver Run SuperChair. The American Eagle and the Beaver Run SuperChair had identical looking terminal structures because they were built a year apart - 1989 and 1990.

The only difference between the two in terms of mechanical stuff was that the American Eagle was an unaltered lift, and used a chain cadence system, which you'll see a glimpse of at the top of the lift. The Beaver Run SuperChair also had a chain cadence, but it was replaced around 1999 with a tire contour system. That high pitched rattling sound you'll hear in the lift terminals in this video is the sound of the chain.

The lift that American Eagle replaced was a bubble double chairlift called "F" lift, which ran from Center Village to Solitude Station. The original "F" lift is now the Dakota triple chairlift at Big Sky in Montana.

In 2018, Copper Mountain undertook a massive renovation project that saw Leitner Poma replace both the American Eagle and American Flyer lifts with new high speed six packs. The American Eagle lift became a chondola with high speed six pack chairs and eight-passenger gondola cabins.
