Jessica Hoskins grew up in rural Kentucky as one of four siblings. Her mother, a single parent working two jobs, did everything in her power to make ends meet, but was forced to make difficult decisions every morning—save for the monthly utility bill or buy gas to get to work.

Now a mother of three herself, Jessica feels profound empathy for the families she meets who are in need of assistance—and she’ll do just about anything to help.

As a Community Health Advocate at CHI Saint Joseph Health, Jessica seeks out and partners with community organizations such as food pantries, clothing programs, and local churches to provide vital resources. She’s delivered groceries to those who can’t get to food shelters, and gathered clothes for patients and their children with sizes and seasons in mind. She’s even found a new home for a family of seven and helped navigate their move step by step.

Jessica’s compassion brings her to know the patients she helps on a personal level. She gets to know their families, listens to their stories, and takes the details they’ve shared to heart. Because as Jessica says, “The health of someone starts in their home.”
