【マニア向け】マンハッタンの秘境・ランダル島をゆく（４K高画質NY散歩） - Randall's & Wards island NYC (4K)

アメリカ、ニューヨーク、マンハッタン島の東北に隣接するランダル島を訪れます。

ランダル島はレクリエーション用の施設（野球やサッカーのフィールド）とNY消防団の訓練施設、下水処理場、その他、市政府の施設があります。
一般向けの住居アパートは無いので、その他の商業施設も一切なく、ニューヨーカーには馴染みのない島です。
近年はメキシコとの国境を超えて大量に乱入している移民を受け入れるための仮設住宅（ほぼテント）が作られました。

緑豊かで静かな島で、芝生フィールドには学校行事で訪れた子どもたちがたくさんいます。また、川沿いの公園・街道の芝生や街路樹はとてもよく整備されていて綺麗で、隣接するアストリアやマンハッタン島から訪れた人々が散歩しています。特に、島の南側の川沿いはマンハッタンの高層ビル群が見えて景色が綺麗です。

全体的に、ルーズベルト島に似た雰囲気があります。

都会の喧騒を離れたい場合、とても良い環境です。徒歩や自転車で行く場合、マンハッタン島の102丁目から橋があります。

マンハッタン島のすぐ隣にあり、広大な敷地があるので、夏には、音楽の野外コンサート会場としても使われています。

Visiting Randall's & Wards island. It's accessible on foot (or bicycle) from a small pedestrian bridge on 102nd street.

It's got dozens of baseball and soccer fields. I visited on a normal Tuesday afternoon, and saw a lot of school buses and kids playing in the fields. Still, overall very quiet, serene greenery and nice waterfront walk paths. It lets you get away from the busy and noisy atmosphere of Manhattan. It's got a similar vibe to Roosevelt island in that sense.

But no residential buildings in Randall's island. Only some government facility for park maintenance, water processing plant, NYFD, etc. And in recent years, they opened temporary homeless shelter to house migrants.

Overall a nice cozy place to visit for a walk or a picnic, especially the southern riverside has a nice view of Manhattan skyline.

But to be honest, Central Park is much better as a park to enjoy greenery. And to enjoy a nice riverside/waterfront vibe, maybe Hudson river greenway is better. or simply walk on Astoria riverside, or Roosevelt island.
Feels like the only reason you wanna visit Randall's island is you want massive space to play baseball/soccer or got bored of all other parks and want to try a new place, or because you live nearby.
