Alexis is a certified FileMaker developer based in Toronto, Canada, the founder of FM Design University, and the principal of Hyperspace Data Solutions, Inc. She has presented several times on the topic of UI design at the FileMaker developer’s conference, now Claris Engage.

In this presentation, Alexis will show you why you should always start new development projects with design first; why user experience and usability—not cool new features or hot colour combinations—will make or break your app; and how to save time and money during development by following a structured (but flexible) design process that anyone can learn.
