🔊🔛 I was invited by my friend Meg out to her house on the North Fork of Long Island, for a long weekend to not only hang out and relax in its beaches and wine country, but to observe, and partake in, a slice of her life as a farmer—both by land and by sea. (She farms oysters in the Peconic Bay, as @YennicottOysters.) 🦪

After settling in, the first order of business was to restock the Old Town Farmstand that she manages in Southold, which sells produce grown by her and other local farms, plus other shipments 🍅🍆🥑🍌🥔🍉🥒🌽. Playtime ensued with a visit to Kenney’s Beach 🌊 and nearby @LittleFishNoFo for sunset cocktails 🌅🍸, followed by wine with dinner homecooked on the grill 🐟🌽.

Breakfast the next morning was definitely appreciated by my new canine BFF Nanuk, who we took for a morning walk to the beach nearby. Then we prepped some farm fresh mignonettes for a gig later in the day: a pop-up oyster raw bar at a private party at a residence in Montauk. We drove the scenic route there, via two ferries and a drive across Shelter Island in between, but not without first stopping in for a leisurely wine tasting at @CroteauxVineyards 🍷 and a pit stop at Southold Fish Market to stock up on ice 🧊.

The private event was actually a birthday party for a 15-year old 🥳, and our oyster and shucking services were mostly to appease the adults in attendance—including myself because I couldn’t help getting high on our own supply 🦪😋. The teens were mostly impressed with the catering team that came after us, a hibachi Benihana-esque performative duo, who cooked on Blackstone grills with usual party tricks, including squirting sake and soda out of a water gun into guests mouths 😆🔫, and the classic crowd-pleaser, the onion steam volcano.

We journeyed back the way we came, tied time at night, after briefly checking out The Crow’s Nest in Montauk where we parked in the owner’s driveway (because his mom that we met at the birthday party said we could). In Greenport back on the North Fork, we had a staff meal at @BrixAndRye in the form of pizza and cocktails. Well deserved, after a long day of work and play. 🍕🍸 — East Ending in #LongIsland, NY, USA.
