Taz the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier

We’re bringing back our Spotlight Stories on the dogs, and to start them off we talked about Taz today.

Taz is a 1 year old Irish Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. Wheatens were bred in Ireland as farm dogs for herding and watching over stock.

We have always had a large number of Wheatens at the farm. We find they really love the activities we have here because they’re a very smart, extremely active and also incredibly agile breed. So not only do they love the sports, they excel at them and are generally high performers on most of the activities.

Whilst generally, the Wheatens are not as keen on swimming and are often nervous about the water, Taz showed an early interest in the pool and after some encouragement has become a true water baby, a dock diver and swimming is now her favourite sport.

Like all the Wheatens we know, Taz will go hard when work is on, only say the word and she’s wound up ready for pure action ... but when it comes to family time, home life and especially the children ... she is a true Wheaten through and through with the softest, kindest, gentlest approach. They’re an awesome family dog and dote on the kids, often giving them soft little licks on their heads.

Taz is a great dog with so many awesome traits to her personality, we’ve loved watching her grow from a small crazy pup into a well rounded, loving, intelligent, sensitive and impressive mature doggo!
