The Pinakang dance is widely recognised and frequently performed during celebrations. It is also danced by the Kimaragang tribe in a different style. According to the Kimaragang, Pinakang was the first dance created after discovering the material (pinakang) used for making clothes. Oral stories from the Kimaragang community suggest the dance was inspired by three eagles flying overhead during the process of making the pinakang cloth. In their beliefs, eagles represent the agility and bravery of the warriors (randawi do royo’on) in hunting and attacking enemies. Pinakang is a dance that mimics bird movements.
